Among the 12 sectors that recorded gains, the financial services sector stood out, climbing 0.74%. Banking stocks drew investor attention following encouraging reports of loan growth in August, signaling resilience in Malaysia’s financial system.
Blue-Chip Movers: Nestle, IHH, and PETRONAS Dagangan
The rally was spearheaded by heavyweight stocks:
- Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd climbed 78 sen to RM97.00
- IHH Healthcare Bhd advanced 37 sen to RM7.92
- PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd gained 28 sen to RM23.22
These counters provided strong support to the benchmark index, underscoring renewed investor appetite for defensive and consumer-focused names.

Lower liners also saw active participation:
- VS Industry Bhd rose 1 sen to 60 sen
